The App

We keep your place.

Knotorious is a row counter and project tracker for knitting and crochet, built local-first: every project, counter and note lives on your phone. There is no account to create, no server holding your work, and no sync that can lose it.

§ 01

Don't take our word for it — tap it

Sampler Dishcloth — body Repeat · row 0 of 8

One tap per row. The number is the whole screen, on purpose — it has to read across a room, mid-row, with a needle in your other hand.

The counting screen, rebuilt for the browser. In the app it adds haptics on every tenth row, and your whole shelf of projects behind it.

Why local-first

Your projects live on your phone. Not in someone's cloud.

The loudest complaint in this category, repeated across the app stores this year, is lost work: projects that vanished into a sync error, libraries held behind a paywall. A counter is a tool you trust mid-row, mid-project, sometimes mid-year of a blanket. So the app keeps everything on the device in your hand, backs it up automatically on that device, and lets you export a copy to your own files whenever you like. If our company disappeared tomorrow, your projects would not notice.

§ 02

What it does

Counters that match the craft

Rows or rounds, labelled per section — a sweater body in rounds, its sleeves in rows, in the same project.

Linked repeat counters

A repeat counter rides on the main counter and resets itself every N rows, so "row 5 of 8 — cross the cable" is on screen, not in your head.

Shaping schedules

"Increase each end every 6th row, 5 times" becomes a live countdown to the next shaping row.

Frog back to row N

Lifelines are bookmarks; ripping back moves your counters to the lifeline with the project's history kept. No forty taps of minus-one.

Your pattern, your place

Open a pattern PDF and it reopens where you left it, with a movable row highlighter.

US and UK terms, per pattern

Stored on the pattern and shown every time — never silently converted.

Every WIP welcome

Unlimited projects, including the hibernating ones. Counting and logging are never capped.

The deal, plainly

One subscription. Everything in it.

The free version counts, tracks and keeps your place without limits — the core tool is not a demo. A single Pro subscription unlocks the advanced layer (stash tracking, deeper statistics, more themes) for those who want it. One subscription, everything in it, priced on this page the day the app launches. No tiers, no maze.

Where it stands

In build now, for iPhone and Android.

This page becomes the download page at launch — there are no store buttons yet because there is nothing to download yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. Until then, the guides are live and free, and the first patterns are on their way.
